The Master's program in Applied Psychology includes a mandatory internship totaling 450 hours. The internship can be completed continuously or in two partial internships of at least 225 hours each. We recommend to complete the internship in the 3rd semester.

Research internships can be completed and credited as partial internships.

The services are to be completed as a block internship during the lecture-free period and/or during the course of study (part-time).

Conduct your internship in relevant practice areas (e.g., school psychology, management consulting, personnel selection and development, adult education) of the master's program. During your internship, you should have the opportunity to participate in psychological activities (e.g., diagnostics, consulting, training development, or conducting continuing education) and to conduct some of these activities yourself under supervision.

Here you can find the corresponding contents of the module "Internship" (27-AP-Prak) in the module catalog.

Please note

Please schedule your internships in such a way that they do not have a negative impact on your attendance studies during the semester. Internships to be completed will not be taken into account in the allocation of seminar places or in the completion of other course work.

Procedure

BEFORE - Search and approval of an internship

Look for an internship position. You can use the bulletin board (T3) or the database in LernraumPlus for the Bachelor's program in Psychology (Internships in Psychology - Database and Documentation, ID: 2608). You can obtain the password for self-enrollment in the learning space from the student advisor. Please note: This learning space is for your information only -no further use (both of the documents provided and the database for submitting your report) is possible for you.

After you have found a suitable internship and agreed on a fixed period of time, have your internship confirmed by the company/institution via the information sheet as well as the documentation sheet.

Afterwards, you can have the internship approved by one of the two subject-specific internship coordinators of the university (see below). For this purpose, please send the two completed and signed documents (information sheet and documentation form) by e-mail to: praktika.msc-angewpsy@uni-bielefeld.de and receive the documents with signature back after successful verification.

IMPLEMENTATION

At the end of your internship, have your supervisor sign off on your hours completed on the Internship Confirmation form.

AFTER - Crediting of the internship

The compulsory internship can only be credited if you have completed the 450 hours of workload (2 x 225 hours, if applicable) and can prove this with one/two internship confirmation(s).

At this point at the latest, register by self-enrollment in the moodle learning room "Internships M.Sc. Applied Psychology". The enrollment code was given to you during the introductory week, but you can also get it from the student or academic advisor of psychology.

Prepare a report(s) for your internship(s). Please use the internship report template for this purpose. Enter your internship site in the Internship Database in Learning SpacePlus and upload your report (two entries are required for two internships). Instructions for creating entries can be found in LernraumPlus. Note that your internship will not be recognized by the internship coordinators until it is appropriately documented (this includes the report and entry in the database).

Once all internship hours have been completed, confirmation(s) of internship(s) have been received, and internship report(s) have been entered into the database, submit the Internship Documentation Form and confirmation of all completed internships (as easy-to-read pdf documents) via email (to praktika.msc-angewpsy@uni-bielefeld.de).

If all required achievements are available, the internship coordinator responsible for you will confirm the recognition of the internship achievement and forward the document directly to the examination office. The examination office takes over the posting of the LP in the transcript.
